Thanks! Glad you liked it. :)
Chandelier
I came so close
and then I broke
like a chandelier
from a worn out rope
as the weight fell through
a resounding tune
a familiar scene
I’m so used to
the losing fight
the needless sight
like burning, melting
under moonlight
and the air won’t move
anymore ‘round you
Your heart’s on fire
but you’re so cold too
Your heart’s on fire
and the blame’s on you.
I build up hope
and then I choke
on the numbing fear
rising up my throat
as it all breaks through
a frightening truth
a recycled dream
we hold on to
the pews in rows
the perfect pose
like forgetting how
this story goes
and the burns won’t prove
anymore than you
Your heart’s on fire
but a chill goes through
Your heart’s on fire
and the flame is blue
when the time won’t soothe
anymore for you
Your heart’s on fire
but it feels brand new
Your heart’s on fire
and the fuel is you
So keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground
I’m on the road of least resistance
I’d rather give up than give in to this
“The last thing I wanted was infinite security and to be the place an arrow shoots off from. I wanted change and excitement and to shoot off in all directions myself, like the colored arrows from a Fourth of July rocket.” Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
“As a species, we have evolved to survive. And the way we do it is by straining and straining and, at last, every few generations, giving birth to genius. The one who invents the wheel. And light. And flight. The one who builds a city, a nation, an empire…I’ll put it bluntly. Human beings are free except when humanity needs them. Maybe humanity needs you. To do something. Maybe humanity needs me - to find out what you’re good for.”-Orson Scott Card, Ender’s Game
