2012 is nearly over. We still have Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained to look forward to but I’m so ready and so excited for what 2013 is bringing! (If the world doesn’t end)

10. Carrie: Remake. I love Carrie! And I think this will be a good remake, and probably more faithful to the book which is always a cool thing. I feel like this film is going to be another really good adaptation of Stephen King’s book.

9. Evil Dead: Remake. This should be fun! Ash/Bruce Campbell isn’t in it, but he’s a producer and he’s already said it’s fabulous.

8. I, Frankenstein: Based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. A Frankenstein monster in the middle of an immortal war, that’s all you really need to know. Plus, Dexter’s new murderous girlfriend is in it!

7. Elysium: How much longer could we wait for another sci-fi film from Neill Blomkamp?! Luckily, this one is coming in 2013! And Jason Bour…I mean, Matt Damon is in it!

6. Iron Man 3: Let’s see.. We have RDJ, of course! We have The Mandarin! And we have The Iron Patriot…or is that War Machine in Iron Patriot Armor?..Yeah, because we all know Sony won’t let them borrow Norman Osborn. Its okay, Norm. We’ll see you in the Amazing Spidey movies, when you abduct Gwen … The bridge …and Peter tries to..Oh! Gwen is ..Oh no, Peter!… soooooooo sad. Poor Spider-Man…

Wait, what just happened here? Back to 2013..

5. Oz the Great and Powerful: Prequel. This is The Land of Oz were talking about here!!! And inhabiting it are some fantastically beautiful creatures, like Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and …..JAMES FRANCO! (and I get to mention Bruce Campbell again, because he’s in it too!)

4. Ender’s Game: Based on the novel by Orson Scott Card. Ender’s Game is one of my top 10 favorite books of all time! I know in my heart that this movie will never live up to its original source. But I know that in my heart every time I go into an adaptation. They’re not supposed to live up to anything you imagined in your head while you were reading and it’s best if we all realize that once and for all. I already have, so I am always so very excited to see my favorite stories and characters brought to life on the big screen. Sometimes there’s disappointment. But it doesn’t really matter that much. And sometimes there’s a great joy in seeing something so beautifully and fantastically recaptured as best as it can possibly be recaptured in an entirely different medium. So whatever! Bring on the 15 year old looking Ender! Also, Harrison Ford is playing Graff! That’s right, one more iconic character under Ford’s belt. Anyway…Ender’s Game is a really great book. It’s the future and Ender Wiggin is the best, the brightest, the most gifted 6 year old to enter battle school in the midst of a war against The Formics (an alien race) and the fate of the world…hold on…, what are you waiting for?! Go read this book!(if you haven’t already)

3. Pacific Rim: 3 words…ROBOTS. MONSTERS. GUILLERMO. 3 more words… I CAN’T WAIT!

2. The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug: One book, 3 films… It’s Tolkien’s work back on the big screen so nothing else really matters.. I don’t even have to mention Martin Freeman or Benedict Cumberbatch….but I just did anyway.

1. Star Trek Into Darkness: My most anticipated film of 2013! JJ Abrams’ Star Trek was my favorite film of 2009 so I have been waiting for this sequel for a long time. A teaser for this was just released yesterday and it was so exciting. I just can’t wait for this movie! I love Spock. And this time they threw Benedict Cumberbatch into the mix as a villain! So I love villain too.

Honorable Mentions:

Sin City A Dame To Kill For: I have a feeling this will get pushed back to a 2014 release date so it didn’t make the list.

The Host: Based on the book by Stephenie Meyer who wrote those other books about the sparkly vampire. Due to the horrific writing that is her Twilight series, I almost didn’t read this book. But it’s an alien invasion love story(how could I not read it?!) and Orson Scott Card’s endorsement on the cover slip made me cave. So I have to admit, I really liked it. It was a far better story and much better written than her Twilight series. I will definitely see the movie.

The Wolverine: It’s an X-Men movie so of course I want to see it but I’m really waiting for X-men Days of Future Past. Oh how I love the convolution and discontinuity that this entire franchise encompasses!

Thor The Dark World: … Marvel…We’re all really just waiting for a Joss Whedon Avengers sequel so were gonna see anything in phase 2 leading up to it.

Monsters University: Umm, who doesn’t want to see this?!
